Kausani In Winter

The winter season usually starts from October and lasts till February. During this time, the temperature falls to a minimum of 9 degree celsius and the maximum temperature would be around 22 degree celsius

Shopping at Local Market in Kausani
Shopping spots in Kausani where you can buy hand-knitted shawls and caps or take home different types of tea, pickles, jams and many more.
You will get shawls and pullovers made out of Angora Rabbit’s wool, which is very soft and warm to wear.
Small trek to Rudhadhari Waterfall
The way to the waterfalls is through a forest trek which will take about 2 hours in total to cover the to and fro distance. The path has lots of ups and downs so its not advisable for elderly people and children.
After the trek, you can see a small temple of lord Shiva, which is the main attraction of the trek. Rudhradhari is situated 12 kms away from Kausani.
They first opened in 2016, the observatory is equipped with an 8-inch computerised GoTo telescope. Over here you can take a guided tour of the night sky, observe the Moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies and nebulae through the telescope.
Learn how to photograph the objects in the night sky, look at the sun, directly, without hurting your eyes, understand Physics experientially, by making rockets and cameras yourself, visit the Space & Astronomy Museum and finally take home memorabilia from their store.
Anashakti Ashram
Anashakti Ashram is a wonderful place in Kausani which is famous for the stay of Mahatma Gandhi. He stayed in the ashram for around 2 weeks in 1929.
The place is also known as Gandhi Ashram and it is then during his stay he called Kausani as the Switzerland of India. During his stay, he practised Anashakti Yoga and even imparted his pre-existing knowledge to them. The best time to visit Kausani is from January to April and September to December.
Kausani Tea Estate
The Kausani tea estate is situated at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level and is on the Bageshwar road. It is located 5 km away from the main town.
Kausani Shawl Factory
Founded in 2002, in this shawl factory, the artisans handloom these shawls and do embroidery work on them. They have been nationally recognised by many organisations for their artistic work to date.
The ideal duration of visiting Kausani is 2 to 3 days and for a leisurely stay, you can extend it to 3 to 4 days.
In Kausani there are many adventure spots as well. You could do a small trek to Rudhadhari Waterfalls, rock climbing or even go a nature walk within the forest.
